Check out my next workshop in KL… it’s on 23-24 Feb 2013 from 9.30 am to 5 pm at my studio and garden.
This workshop is for you who would like to explore art as a tool to get in touch with yourself. It’s all about you and HOW you can let your feelings out on paper and canvas and what it means the stuff you’re creating. Suitable for both beginners and intermediate painters.
I will touch on WHY it is so important to be able to express the inner most feelings creatively. I will guide you through some exercises and meditations, which will help you create even if you haven’t painted before. And you will learn intuitive methods for painting and how to express yourself from the inside out through painting.
When you’ve created your artwork, I’ll help you analyse WHAT it really is that you painted.
Course fee includes 2 full days workshop, all materials, lunch and coffee/tea.
Standard price: RM600 per person
Early Birds before 5 Feb 13: RM450 per person
Fee must be paid in full latest 18 Feb 2013.

I am really excited about this… my first two T-shirts are being produced right now. I call it my ArtT and I am starting with two wonderful designs all based on my original artwork. Each ArtT is lovingly made in pre-washed 100% cotton… smoothly soft with a high quality print on both front and back and elegant finishing! Looking at the two pre-production samples, the quality is extremely high and could get almost anybody to wear a T-shirt!
This ArtT in a female cut is called “Waking Up”…
“We wake up every morning… but do we wake up enough? Just having our eyes open is not necessarily being awake; we could be sleeping away from who we are with our eyes wide open!
We each have a gift that we are supposed to bring to the world. When we know what this gift is, we feel a deep satisfaction by giving exactly this to the world. Waking up to who we truly are is a process which takes a conscious effort… and time! Thinking, contemplating, dreaming, searching… only then will the knowing come.
Did you wake up enough to find your gift to the world?”
And this ArtT which is a unisex ArtT is called “Freedom”…
“We sometimes crave for freedom yet it can be a little frightening because with freedom we are free of conventions, expectations and limiting beliefs. Maybe it’s a little scary because we think it could look egoistic but truth is that when we are truly free we are also staying true to who we are as human beings… and people are attracted to that!
Are you allowing yourself to be truly free? Free of conventions, of prejudice and limiting beliefs?
Are you allowing yourself the freedom to be free? “

Right now I am checking out shipping prices as I already have had a number of overseas enquiries and I don’t really know how to handle this and online sales at the moment so please be patient but I will deal with individual requests. Just drop me an e-mail and we’ll figure out a delivery price.
In the meantime, if you live in Kuala Lumpur we can just meet up if you want one of my ArtTs…. they come in all sizes by the way!

I am now in Denmark and as a Dane I just have to comment on the weather as this is always one of the most talked about subjects in Denmark! Somewhat more chilly than hot and humid Kuala Lumpur, despite or maybe because of that, I am still enjoying my time here. So far at the time of writing I have experienced a lovely hot Summer’s day and a cold rainy day in Copenhagen.
Shortly I will be on the way to Jylland, more specifically to Fur where I have the most lovely artist home in an old house from 1885. It’s in the middle of nowhere (almost) with a wonderful view over fenne and fjord and a peek towards the old Vitskoel Kloster (monastery). It was bought when I was still in my Mum’s tummy by my artist Granddad as his Summerhouse… he bought it because the light is so special on Fur amongst others and it’s a great place to create art. I am so proud to be able to continue in his and my Mum’s footsteps! Please drop by if you are in the vicinity of Fur but do give me a buzz first.
This year I will be participating in 2 group exhibitions and you are invited to come and join at the opening party… or you can of course drop by any time at your convenience if you happen to be in Denmark. For both exhibitions I am joining the artist group Furkunst.dk
Vernisage in Kulturspinderiet, Silkeborg on 6 July!
The first exhibition I will be part of is in Kulturspinderiet in in the old Papirfabrikken (paper factory) in Silkeborg. It should be a rather big exhibition as it’s a spacious exhibition hall. I will bring several paintings for this exhibition but
how many exactly I still don’t know as the group of artists haven’t got the overview yet. But please come and join the fun:
Opening party: Friday 6 July 2012 at 16.00 hrs to 19.00 hrs
Exhibition Duration: 6 July to 16 July 2012
Opening Hours: 10.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs daily
Address: Kulturspinderiet, Papirfabrikken 32, 8600 Silkeborg

If you can’t attend the opening party then feel free to come any othe day. Best to give me a buzz on my Danish mobile (please send a mail to get the no.) as I will only be there on some days… if you want to meet up and have a chat.
Vernisage in Fur Forsamlingshus on 15 July!
The second exhibition is the annual Furkunst.dk Summer Exhibition and as usual it will take place on the island itself. I will apparently only be allowed to show one piece of art but this should mean that it’s
a pretty exciting exhibition with a lot of variety. If you haven’t been to Fur yet, I highly recommend a visit and please do prepare to spend the whole day to go around on Fur to get the most our of your day on the island. It’s after dubbed the most beautiful island in Denmark!
Opening party: Sunday 15 July at 14.00 hrs
Exhibition Duration: 15 July to 3 August 2012
Opening Hours: 13.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs daily
Address: Fur Forsamlingshus, Nr. Madsbadvej, 7884 Fur
If you can’t attend the opening party then feel free to come any other day. Just give me a buzz on my Danish mobile (e-mail me to get the no) if you are coming before 18 July so we can meet up as my holiday in Denmark soon will come to an end by then.
Training DVD and workbook in the making…
Life is hectic and fun at the moment because not only am I participating on two exhibitions in Denmark over the Summer, I am also in the middle of producing my first training DVD and workbook! I am happy to work together with a good editor and from what I can see, the DVD will be very professionally made. The workbook is still in the making as well but I have also taken on board a graphic designer so the looks should be sleek! More news on this after my Summer break.
Preparing my first Art Ts!
I always saw my art on clothing, I think it’s a great way of spreading joyful and colourful energy. This vision of mine is now becoming a reality with the first two Art Ts in the making. I am very excitedabout this and I am awaiting the first samples soon… you will have to wait to see the designs I am afraid.
The Expat Art Exhibition is happening!
I am so happy to now have secured a collaboration with the Expat Magazine about making this exhibition a reality. It all started when I saw the most perfect space for an art exhibition but realistically I would not be able to fill it on my own… so why not create a large group exhibition?
I worked on the idea and realised that there has never been an expatriate art exhibition in Malaysia. The obvious was therefore to create the first exhibition in Malaysia with resident expatriate artists.
Since then I have been talking to a number of Ambassadors who all love the idea of cultural exchange in this format. Best of all, I have the Expat Magazine as my partner in organising this event. The magazine is the premier magazine in Malaysia targetting the expatriate market and they have always been into supporting up and coming local artists. For them it was the obvious expansion of horizons to collaborate on my project… and work is in progress, slowly but surely.
We are still trying to finalise the most perfect venue and a good date.We are hoping for November 2012. At the same time, we are working on locating resident expatriate artists so if you know of any living in
Malaysia who might be interested please let them contact me. I will let you know more as things progress.
In the meantime, enjoy life and may colour and creativity become a fabulous part of your life!
I am still in awe after my last art exhibition “Colours of Life. A Celebration of Life, Art and Culture” at Hotel Equatorial. Having finalised the last details with the hotel, delivered sold paintings, picking up the rest etc,
I am happy to announce that including the sale of my paintings I have been able to donate MYR4,200 to our chosen charity Yayasan Sunbeams Home. This is also thanks to a great partnership with Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur and fantastic collaboration with many great people such as Nila Palacios, Lena Lim, Dr. T Selva, Tan Chong Meng, Rajen the Magician and Elke Wollschon.
I went to Yayasan Sunbeams Home’ homeschooling centre on a Sunday in March together with social media expert Lena Lim and we met up with Pastor Victor, his wife, a teacher and some kids and it was a great pleasure to see all the work that they do for orphaned children.Yayasan Sunbeams Home cares and provides for orphaned, abused, neglected and abandoned children, and children from broken families, irrespective of their background or beliefs. I was in particular impressed with their home schooling programme and centre.
A large number of the children have had problems integrating in the public school and to follow the curriculum. Therefore the management of the orphanage decided to teach the children themselves, following a home schooling programme. This has given happier kids who are learning more and the donation from my art show is going toward shelves in the school.
The school employs 4 teachers and they need money each month to pay for them and to develop the school further so if you are looking for a charity to support, I think this is a very worthy cause.
Read more about Yayasan Sunbeams Home here: http://sunbeamshome.org/ and like them on Facebook too please: www.facebook.com/YayasanSunbeamsHome
I like the Yayasan Sunbeams Home concept so much that we have agreed that I will help teach the kids art and creativity and we are starting to prepare for this very soone. If you know who can support us with art materials and supplies, please let me know.
I have actually been asked many times whether I teach art and creativity to children… now I will start on this at Yayasan Sunbeams Home as my community project and maybe later, if the demand is there, do something for children from families for a fee. More on this when I feel ready.
I will be video’ing my next workshop and I am urgently looking for a few more people to be in my training video. Are you one of my stars?
The video will be filmed in my studio in my house in Ampang this coming weekend Saturday and Sunday 24th and 25th March 2012 from 9 am to 5 pm.
The video and therefore the workshop will include subjects of discovery such as the connection between creativity, play and relaxation, the meaning of colours and how colours affect us. I will also touch on subjects such as materials, paints and colours and not least how to mix colours. The exercises are all relaxed and fun and will include a number of mind freeing assignments using colours and other materials. I will in particular focus on guiding you through exercises that will help you finding your creativity and I will reveal tricks that you can use in the future whether you are painting or not. Some of the things you learn might even become useful at the job! And don’t forget, you will go home with at least one if not not more masterpieces made by YOU!
You do not need to know about painting or art to participate but it’s no hindrance because what I teach is entirely different to any art class you could imagine! Just come with an open mind and be willing to go with the flow and have fun!
As I am video’ing this I will not charge you my usual fees, I will only ask you to cover the cost of lunch boths days and all material, a total of RM75. That is a steal because you will be helping me to make a super training video just by being you!
Give me a call immediately if you want to be part of this and help me out at the same time, please call on tel 016 301 8081 or my personal mobile if you have that number.
Well over 60 people including the media turned up for the opening of “Colours of Life. A Celebration of Life, Art and Culture” at Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur on 5 January 2012.
The opening party was an unusual art vernisage with the painting “Blossom” coming to life! Fashion designer Nila Palacios had graciously offered to be body painted similar to the painting and dance the feeling and energies of the the painting while I recited my words about the painting to the tunes of Open Your Heart by Ruth Cunningham and Ana Hernandez.

Thanks to partners and sponsors Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur, Carlsberg Breweries, Albatros, Nila Palacios Latin Fashion, Vanitha Murthi, Mosholt Design.
The exhibition had a number of events associated… all in order to raise some money for Yayasan Sunbeams Home… a home for orphaned kids who need more colour in their lives!
The painting “Blossom” came to life to these words:
When a flower is in blossom it is beauty unfolding in front of our eyes, leaf by leaf unfolding. It is the same when a human being starts to blossom, slowly we will see how truly beautiful this person is.
To make ourselves blossom we first need to discover the seed or the purpose that we are here to plant, then we must sow it, water it, nurse it… grow it. Eventually we will blossom. And when we start to blossom we will straighten the back, push forward the chest, raise beyond the ground. We will bloom and become attractive.
What will make you blossom?

The Star newspaper is announcing my upcoming exhibition with this article published on 3 January 2012:
Artist to talk about her mission in life during exhibition
DANISH artist Charlotte Donvang is not your normal artist and her exhibition scheduled to be held at Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur on Jan 5 is promising to be something entirely different too.
The exhibition, which is called “Colours of Life — A Celebration of Life, Art and Culture” not only displays her artwork but also covers a series of events portraying different angles of life, art and culture.
Donvang, who lives in Kuala Lumpur, has held exhibitions here several times but this is the first time she is holding a very public and daring exhibition.
“To me colour is energy and energy is life,” said Donvang.

There is less than a week for Christmas at the moment of writing this. Normally my house here in Kuala Lumpur is neatly decorated with a Christmas tree and beautiful X-mas decs, some are homemade and some are fabulous designer decorations from Georg Jensen in Denmark. This year I have had no time at all… I have been preparing my up and coming solo exhibition.
It all started with a cancellation of what should have been my exhibition during the month of December at Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur. My art show was going to be part of their Christmas tree lighting event for the VIP customers but for some reason or other, outside my control, it was cancelled. However, instead they offered me a bigger event dedicated to my art with a better location in the hotel. It was definitely an offer I could not refuse. It also meant that I have been working very hard ever since because now it’s a full on solo event with all that entails.
And typically me, what was an art exhibition has now developed into a mini festival with a lot of associated activities. The art exhibition is called “Colours of Life. A Celebration of Life, Art and Culture” and it will portray different aspects of life as well as my art.
To me colour is energy… and energy is life. With the title “Colours of Life” it quickly became obvious to me that as well as showing different aspects of life through my art I could do that through associated events too. Because it’s all about the energy… and now we will be displaying events with fabulous energies in them!
I believe that art should be available to all walks of life and not only hang in exclusive galleries. That is why I am so happy to work with Hotel Equatorial… a lot of people will walk past my art and receive a little of the colour energy that I am here to give. I believe that more people will be touched by my art in a hotel than in a gallery.
That’s how the idea of a mini festival came about. There are now more than 15 different happenings taking place during the period of my exhibition from 5 January to 6 February 2012. Check out the programme elsewhere on my web site.
An auspicious event
The whole event is quite auspicious to me and I’m sure it was all meant to be. Now listen to this:
At my first talk with the hotel I discovered that the event would be covering the Chinese New Year period. Of course I felt proud to be Danish and exhibiting over Chinese New Year in Kuala Lumpur of course but when I started to look into the Chinese New Year of the Water Dragon I discovered (unbeknown to me but surely not the Chinese) that the New Year energies starts already starts on 4th of February. That’s when I will be putting up the paintings for the show!
Studying the Dragon further I discovered that the Dragon’s favorite colours is yellow. The latest four paintings that I had created for the exhibition was primarily… you guessed it… yellow!
In the Chinese horoscope I am a Tiger and looking more into the relationship between the Dragon and the Tiger I find… that they are very good friends!
So here we go: my next solo exhibition is called “Colours of Life. A Celebration of Life, Art and Culture” and it is taking place at the main lobby of Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur from 5 January to 6 February 2012.
